Seems very sensible... Except, as I understand job markets, it is actually easier to switch to a new job the more experience you have on your resume. So giving a person an internship at an early stage will make it easier for him to switch to a better company later. Or have I misunderstood how hiring staff thinks? 🤔

Internships provide companies credible information about how the worker will perform in their firm and provide workers information about the work environment. It is also a credible signal of interest in working for the firm and interest in hiring the worker. Information problems are an extremely important in matching markets, but they are complicated enough that I decided to skip covering them for this post.
